Manager of Communications

In this position, you would be responsible to develop and implement a strategic communications plan for internal and external stakeholders that generates appropriate referrals to the agency’s fee-for-service division, and promotes the agency and its services to the community. 

  • University degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline
  • Experience in private or not-for-profit corporate communications and marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop strong external and internal networks
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience in desktop publishing (with specific knowledge of Corel Draw) would be considered a distinct asset
Responsibilities/ Requirements::  

1.    General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the agency’s communications plan
  • Develop and monitor the agency’s communications budget
  • Attend trade shows and other networking events
  • Utilize desktop publishing software to create and design promotional materials such as brochures, flyers and newsletters
  • Develop and maintain linkages with community partners to identify service trends and gaps 
  • Promote service program to potential funders and referral sources
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources for service program
  • Ensure that existing admissions processes to service program are congruent with the needs of referral sources and recommend necessary revisions
  • Respond to media requests as directed by the chief executive officer.


2.    Management Responsibilities

  • Participate actively as a member of the senior management team
  • Assume a leadership role for agency initiatives identified by the management team
  • Participate in the development of agency policies and procedures
  • Submit and monitor identified performance data and initiate remedial action where necessary
  • Provide leadership regarding the achievement of organizational strategic directions
  • Develop and implement communications strategies regarding agency initiatives for staff



3.    Community Responsibilities

  • Represent the agency to the community in a positive manner.
  • Provide presentations for community education and awareness as requested
  • Initiate collaborative relationships and partnerships with complementary agencies as appropriate
  • Participate on committees external to the agency as required
